Eleven runners completed the icy, muddy course which follows the Buckeye Trail (a 1200+ mile trail which encircles Ohio) through the Cleveland Metroparks and Cuyahoga Valley National Recreational Area.
Temperatures were mostly in the 10's and 20's during the run, depending on the time of day and the location of the runner along the course. The snow, hardly packed by previous feet, was 6-8 inches deep along the course.
Congrats to the first finishers of the day, Mike George and Jamie Hurley as well as top female finisher, Jeanie Gerstein. (Jeanie becomes the only female to have ever completed the Winter BT50K.)
Extreme thanks to Jed Davis, Tom Zinkle and Bob Lisey who did the one thing harder than running the course on this day: manning the aid stations. (All runners have been warned not to expect any aid at future winter BT50K's, lest they be spoiled !)
