A few souls swam through the mud on this unseasonably warm Saturday in Northeast Ohio. The course, same as the summer event, runs through a somewhat secluded area in the southern suburbs of Cleveland, through the Cleveland Metroparks and the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreational Area. The course runs along the Buckeye Trail, a 1200+ mile trail system (foottrails and roads) that encircles the State of Ohio.
Terry Hawk, captured the crown at this first annual event. (His time would have been a bit faster, except that I didn't tell him that this was a "race" and that I was submitting results to UltraRunning until about Mile 10.)
Leo Lightner, Hugh Danaceau and Robin Fry also joined us for the day.(Thanks to Robin for keeping yours truly company through a good portion of the run . I estimated that he probably ran about 31 miles of the "50K" course.)
Thanks to Dan Bellinger for the providing the aid and manning the aidstations and to Steve Godale for also helping out.
